Diabetes & Nutrition

Studies show that people with diabetes do better when they have help from a health care team. The Diabetes and Nutrition Center (DANC) at East Alabama Health has a team of certified professionals who specialize in diabetes and understand your needs. The team includes nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists, and they work with you and your physician to give you the services you need to effectively manage your diabetes. They also offer classes and counseling on healthy eating, and provide services to help with weight loss and weight management.

The Diabetes and Nutrition Center provides a comprehensive diabetes education program for adults and children that includes a combination of group diabetes classes and individual diabetes and medical nutrition therapy visits. This allows our patients to learn from others as well as have one-on-one time with a dietitian or nurse to focus on individual needs.
